Betrayal Trauma:
Healing from the Impact of Betrayal
The discovery of betrayal—whether it’s an affair, emotional deceit, or other forms of dishonesty—can feel like an emotional earthquake. The feelings of shock, anger, sadness, and confusion are often overwhelming, leaving you questioning everything you thought you knew about your relationship and your own sense of trust. Betrayal trauma is unique, and healing requires a thoughtful, compassionate approach.
I specialize in working with partners who have experienced betrayal. Using a partner-sensitive approach, we’ll explore the emotional and psychological impact betrayal has had on you and begin the difficult process of healing. My goal is to help you reclaim your sense of self-worth, rebuild your emotional resilience, and support you through this challenging journey.
We’ll work through the complex emotions that come with betrayal, such as feelings of embarrassment, guilt, or anger, while focusing on rebuilding trust—both in your partner (when appropriate) and more importantly, yourself. In therapy, you will learn to navigate your emotions with self-compassion, define healthy boundaries, and identify the next steps in your healing process.
Healing from betrayal trauma takes time, but with the right support, you can emerge from this experience stronger, more self-aware, and empowered to move forward. Whether you decide to work through the pain within the relationship or choose to move forward on your own, therapy will offer a roadmap for healing and emotional recovery.
